For the first time Ukraine will be represented with the national stand on the main film market of North America in the course of the International Film Festival in Toronto

At the 42nd International Film Festival in Toronto, which will be held on September 7-17, Ukraine will present a national stand showcasing the film industry of our country for the first time. The work of the stand is organized by the joint efforts of the Ukrainian State Film Agency, the Embassy of Ukraine in Canada and representatives of the Ukrainian film industry.

Toronto International Film Festival (TIFF) is the largest presentation platform for European filmmakers in the North America and is considered the launch pad of the Academy Awards season.

At the Ukrainian stand in Toronto the current information about Ukrainian film projects, film companies, and industry services will be presented – for this purpose, an active preparation of the Ukrainian Film Industry Guide is underway. At the same time, with the support of the Embassy of Canada in Ukraine, the Days of Ukrainian Cinema in Toronto will be held on September 8-10. The audience will be shown six feature films produced in Ukraine in 2016-2017, including the screening of the Ukrainian film-nominee for the Oscar in the "Best Foreign Language Film" category.

One of the main events at the stand will be the presentation of Discover Ukraine, which will be held on September 10. Head of the Ukrainian State Film Agency Philip Illyenko and Executive Director of the Ukrainian Motion Picture Association Victoria Yarmoshchuk will talk about the opportunities and advantages of film production in Ukraine, as well as present the new law on the introduction of rebates system for foreign producers.

"We have tremendous creative potential, picturesque locations, professional staff and the long-awaited rebates system – all this is important to bring up to the international film community", – comments Victoria Yarmoshchuk, executive director of the Ukrainian Motion Picture Association.

Let’s recall that in this May, as part of the 70th Cannes International Film Festival, Victoria Yarmoshchuk and Philip Illyenko also presented the advantages of filmmaking in our country to a foreign audience. It is worth noting the highest ever interest to Ukraine among the participants of the Cannes Film Market.

There is no doubt that Ukraine's participation in the Toronto International Film Festival will continue to reveal the potential of our country for the international film community and provide additional prospects for the development of the industry.

Location of the Ukrainian stand in Toronto: Hyatt Regency / 370 King Street West, Toronto, Booth #20.
