Presentation by MRM at the international conference-showcase “Cultural Relations of Ukraine and the EU: First Achievements”

On December 14, an international conference-showcase “Cultural Relations of Ukraine and the EU: First Achievements” took place in Kyiv, it was dedicated to grand summing up of the year of entry into force of the EU-Ukraine Association Agreement in the field of culture. The event was organized by Creative Europe Desk Ukraine in cooperation and supported by the Delegation of the European Union in Ukraine in the partnership with the Ministry of Culture of Ukraine and the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Ukraine.

The purpose of the conference was to summarize the results of cooperation between Ukraine and the EU in the field of culture and discuss the main strategy of cooperation for the future.

The conference was attended by about 250 representatives of cultural, creative and audiovisual industries, public institutions and projects, state, municipal and local authorities, EUNIC and EU member states, EACEA. Among the special guests of the event were: Yevhen Nyshchuk, Minister of Culture of Ukraine; Katharina Riediger, Coordination of the National Contact Points of the EU Creative Europe Program; Hugh Mingarelli, Head of the Delegation of the EU to Ukraine; Pavlo Klimkin, Minister of Foreign Affairs of Ukraine; Mykola Knyazhitsky, Chairman of the Verkhovna Rada Committee.

Among the participants of the event also was Lyubov Krokhmalna – head of international co-production, Media Resources Management (MRM). Lyubov presented a special presentation in the course of the conference’s programme entitled “Showcases of successful projects of Ukraine-EU”. Based on the example of Ukrainian animation projects ‘Mavka. The Forest Song’, ‘Mom Hurries Home’ and the series ‘Koza Nostra’ she told about the new direction of Media Resources Management. Thanks to the company's many years of expertise, as well as with the help of Creative Europe programme, MRM has been engaged in the withdrawal of Ukrainian companies and their products to international markets for over a year. It should be noted that only this year Ukrainian projects became the full participants and contenders of such international markets and pitchers of Creative Europe as Cartoon Movie (France), Be Film Festival (Belgium), Cartoon Connection (Canada), MIFA for Annecy International Animated Film Festival (France), Animation Production Day (Germany) and MIA Matching Excellence Cinema TV Doc (Italy), where they were presented to the general public for further search of partners.

At the end of the conference, the Minister of Culture of Ukraine Yevhen Nyshchuk thanked the organizers of the E Delegation of the EU to Ukraine and the National Creative Europe Desk for organizing the conference and noted that in the first place the conference provides an opportunity to draw attention to the important role played by culture in political, economic and social development of the country, and also acts as a powerful tool in establishing international relations.

Summing up the conference, we can say that this year has become a kind of breakthrough in Ukraine-EU relations in the field of culture, and has set the main direction for further cooperation. In turn, Media Resources Management is planning to actively develop a new direction of the company, the main purpose of which is to support Ukrainian projects of various genres and their producers when entering the international arena. In addition, MRM intends to search partners and submit projects to the Creative Europe Fund to develop, disseminate and popularize the cinema and audiovisual industry and develop innovative projects for cross-media platforms.
